- Licensed as Professional Inspector #8001 by the Texas Real Estate Commission on January 31, 2005.
- Fall of 2004 - certified to take the Texas Real Estate Commission's professional inspector exam after extensive certified training by Inspector Training Associates (ITA) and Kaplan Professional Schools.
- 2002-2004 - Owned and operated floor installation and maintenance company in Austin TX.
- 1992 - 2002 - Owned and operated a sub-contracting business to general construction in Austin TX.
- 1987-1992 - Supervised the construction of multiple hotels and retail/office buildings in southern California.
- 1982-1987 - Supervised the construction of multi-family and hotel projects in the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex.
- 1980-1982 - Worked for McDowell Electric in Houston TX as an apprentice electrician but spent most of the time building the owner's personal home.
- 1978-1980 - Various carpentry related jobs
- 1973-1978 - self-employed as a structural framing contractor

- before 1972 - summer work as carpenter
